8 Out Of 9 Armenian Free-Style Wrestlers Become Prize-Winners In Athens International Youth Tournament
Athens, May 7 /Noyan Tapan/ Free-style Wrestling International Youth Tournament finished in the capital city of Greece, Athens on May 6. There were nine sportsmen from Armenia among delegates from seven countries. Ohan Gikinian (55 kg, Vanadzor), Narek Sanoyan (60 kg), and Gevorg Avsharian (74 kg, both from Yerevan) gained 3 victories each and became the winners of the tournament. 2 members of their team took the 2nd place and 3 the 3rd place.

Armenian Weightlifters Win European Team Championship
Yerevan, April 21 /Armenpress/ Another Armenian weightlifter, Tigran Martirosian, 85 kg, has become absolute European champion in his weight category and the fourth Armenian who has won gold medals at the European championship in Italy.
His combined result is 377 kg, 4 kg more than his nearest rival Vasily Polovnikov of Russia and 15 kg more than Georgy Markov of Bulgaria who came in third.

Armenian Wrestler Wins Gold Medal Of Europe Championship
Yerevan, April 7 /Armenpress/ Armenian wrestler Yuri Patrikeev, 120 kg, has become the only Armenian wrestler to win the gold medal of European championship in Tampere. Finland. Roman Amoyan, another Armenian wrestler, 55 kg, won the silver medal. He was close to winning a qualification for the Olympic Games, but failed. Yuri Patrikeev and Arman Adikian, 66 kg, are two Armenian wrestlers that have won the right to represent Armenia in Beijing games.

Armenian Weightlifters Eager To Win Olympic Games Medals

Armenian Athletes Win 104 Medals In 2008

Yerevan, November 26, Armenpress: Top-seeded Armenian Grand Master Levon Aronian scored facile wins in his first two games against a much lower rated opponent, Juan Pablo Hobaico of Argentina as the Chess World Cup got off to an exciting start in Russian Khanty Mansiysk on Sunday.

Levon Aronian is the winner of the 2006 Chess World Cup.

Arthur Abraham To Defend His IBF Title Against Khoren Gevor

Armenian Soccer Chief 'Regrets' Azerbaijan Match Cancellation
June 26, 2007, ArmeniaLiberty.org, By Emil Danielyan - The Armenian Football Federation (AFF) on Monday expressed regret at the weekend decision by European soccer's governing body, UEFA, to cancel planned matches between the national teams of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The two teams were due to face each other after being drawn into Group A of the qualifying competition for the 2008 European football championship. Their head-to-head matches, scheduled for this September, were certain to arouse nationalist passions in both South Caucasus states that remain in a state of war over Nagorno-Karabakh.

Levon Aronian Plays Draw Second Game Against Magnus Carlsen

UEFA EURO 2008: Yerevan and Baku Failed to Reach Agreement
January 26, 2007, /PanArmenian.Net/ Heads of the Armenian and Azeri Football Federations discussed the possible venue of matches of UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying games. The Azeri delegation was led by President of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan Ramiz Mirzoyev and Secretary General Fuad Asadov. President of the RA Football Federation Ruben Hayrapetyan and Secretary General Armen Minasyan headed the Armenian delegation. However, the sides failed to come to agreement.

Head of the information department at the AFFA Mikail Guliyev informed that the Azeri side has not changed its stance and insists on holding matches in a third country.
