The Armenian government set up a special committee last Wednesday to organize and coordinate events for the entire Armenian nation. Prime minister Andranik Margarian was named Chairman of the Committee, whose members include high ranking officials from various government ministries.
During its first meeting, the committee approved a list of ten projects and discussed organizational matters for each. The committee will also prepare preliminary budget proposals and timetables for each event. Events planned include a cultural festival, One Nation-One Culture, to take place in June, an international movie festival in July called the Golden Apricot, and special seminars for Armenian teachers from the Diaspora.
The committee also approved the Armenian Economic Forum and the third Armenia-Diaspora Assembly in September.
