British House of Lords to Present Its Stand on Destruction of Armenian Khachkars

On January 11 the House of Lords of Great Britain intends to present its written response over destruction of Armenian khachkars (cross-stones) in Nakhichevan.

The response will be sent to Baroness Cox, who has introduced the issue before the upper Chamber of the British Parliament. As reported earlier, the matter of destruction of Armenian khachkars (literally cross stone) in Old Julfa (Nakhichevan) was introduced before the House of Lords as “n issue demanding a written response” December 20, 2005. Baroness Cox and John Marx have initiated consideration of the issue in question.

Baroness Cox specifically urged the British Government to consider the opportunity to express concern over destruction of ancient Armenian churches and other artifacts in Azerbaijan via its UNESCO representative, reported IA Regnum.
